Abstract

Durant molts anys, el comportament dels habitants d’Alzira i d’altres poblacions de la Ribera travessats pel riu Xúquer davant l’amenaça de fortes pluges ha estat mirat amb certa incom-prensió i curiositat per la resta de valencians, com si el fet de pujar els cotxes a llocs alts o parar taulons a la porta de casa foren gestos d’alarmisme innecessari davant d’improbables catàstrofes. Però la memòria de les catastròfiques inundacions de fa quaranta anys, les de la pantanada de Tous del 20 d’octubre del 1982 i la riuada del 3 de novembre del 1987, encara estaven i estan ben presents entre molts veïns que les visqueren, i la transmissió generacional havia funcionat de manera destacada fins als nostres dies.
