On the use of ‘Right’ and ‘Left’ in the Literary Field

Abstract

Intellectual history uses the political categories ‘Right’ and ‘Left’ without taking into account their application to and meaning in cultural spheres. This paper analyses this topic based on the study of how ‘Right’ and ‘Left’ were used in the French literary field and how that use evolved from the end of the 19th century to the 1950s.
